poor straight people pushed into the church closet

I don’t cruise the right-wing Christian blogs so much, so this Orwellian doublespeak can still boggle me:

you can have your beliefs in your church or synagogue or home (for now…) but don’t you dare try to live them out in the public square.

Apparently the answer to WWJD is become an oppressive bigoted majority and then lament and handwring about how you’re the victim. Fascinating how they’ve copped language like “in the closet” to apply to the big old normative hegemonic bully!

Is e-harmony’s exclusion of gays the same as excluding, say, blacks or Jews from a dating site? (Gentiles can go on J-date and whites can go on blackpeoplemeet.com, BTW.) I have reasonable friends who say, Hey, it’s a business, e-harmony can serve whomever it wants. I don’t know. I think the compatibility dimensions they test for apply to any long-term couple, they didn’t seem that gender-bound to me. And e-harmony caters to lots of older people who aren’t gonna be fruitful and multiply, so they can’t use THAT excuse.

I’m glad the lawsuit has made the no-gays policy news. And that the Warrens are at least SAYing they’re thinking about changing their policy. Isn’t opening up the site to everyone WJWD?

Well, at least “AFT” is showing their true nature for all to see. Don’t you know white bread conservatism is the new black? An oppressed minority fighting extinction from closed-minded liberals and hedonists?
A closet heterosexual. Hmmm…will this involve electro-aversion therapy? Firemen burning confiscated piles of Tom Clancy?

Yes, and out-of-the-way bars where men in khakis and baseball hats can furtively glance at women in snug jeans and stilettos, safe from the judging eyes of the gays.

*sigh*–Turns out all we did was stumble upon just another post-apocalyptic scenario:

It sounds like the plot to a porno movie:

“Oh my gosh, now that the gay bomb exploded I just CAN’T keep my hands off of you. Pant. Grunt. Pant.”

From “Don’t ask, don’t tell” to “Don’t bother to ask, we saw the rainbow mushroom cloud”

porno, schmorno, I’m seeing Gay Bomb! The Musical! The production number when they detonate the bomb — I’m seeing b&w into color like Wizard of Oz.

Being like totally gay didn’t keep the ancient Greeks all that pacifist, did it?

By coincidence, Sunday night I was wandering 17th street and Dupont Circle, looking for a bar or club showing the SOPRANOS finale. HBO and Comcast shut out the bars from their SOPRANOS Nights for a few months now, and no place was able to show it. This was at the end of the Gay Pride weekend, and the streets were still packed with cliques of lesbians and gay male couples. Ironically, it was like walking through the post-hetero world that we’ve been joking about. The absence of fundamentalist christian alarmists was not a deficit. It’s a temptation to play with a script idea…

The ancient Greeks weren’t gay, they were just bisexual and misogynist ( read Plato’s views about how loving women is a lower kind of love ). They had wives to have kids.

I just remembered a sci-fi book from the early 70s that was an allegory for the Vietnam War and a left wing answer to the right wing sci-fi book by Heinlein called “Starship Troopers”.

It was called “The Forever War” by Joe Haldeman.

The main character gets drafted and due to all of the Einstein space-time stuff, every time he goes back to Earth between battles centuries have passed.

On one trip home he learns that Earth is despartly
over populated. The world government, using genetic and cultural manipulation over a few generations has made being gay the norm, to cut down on pregnancies.

For the last part of the book the main character must put up with being “the old queer”…that is being a heterosexual in a world where everyone except for a few sequestered deviants are homosexual.
